In contrast to the traditional fee-for-service model, DPC offers unparalleled access to your physician due to lower patient volume. We take advantage of current technology to make delivery easier and more convenient for you.

About me

Traditional medical care always felt hurried to me. I struggled to be truly present with my patients as I split my focus between the pressing needs of the day.

I realized that direct primary care was a better fit for me because it enables me to spend more time with families. With a dramatically smaller patient panel and ease of access, I can more fairly devote my time to your children’s needs, focusing on providing truly comprehensive pediatric care. This is the way primary care should be. This is the way Wayfaring Pediatrics is.

Professionally, I sit on the Board of Directors of Prevent Blindness North Carolina and am also active in the North Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics sitting on the Public Policy Committee. My interests include legislative advocacy, social determinants of health and medical ethics.

Personally, I am the father of 2 young boys and husband to a wonderful and supportive wife and business partner. I am an active runner and enjoy spending time with my family outdoors and in the kitchen cooking and exploring new foods.

Slowing down

Our name

Way٠far٠er (n) a traveler especially on foot, a journey taken on foot.

The name Wayfaring Pediatrics is inspired by a camp in western North Carolina where I worked several summers prior to medical school. Camp Wayfarer is a sacred place for all those who have spent long summer days there either as a camper or counselor.

As much as the place itself – the immediately familiar dining hall, the perfectly imperfect land sports field, council fire ring, and all the quirky songs and traditions – it is also the type of people that are attracted to it that make it special. At camp, there is no agenda, no real life schedule to make you hurry about and no job that is more important than immersing yourself in every moment.

Here I remembered the importance of slowing down, of being present and seeing what was previously unseen. The name is a nod toward that time in my life and the people and that special place that illuminated my curiosity.

As it relates to pediatrics, I think wayfaring inspires a sense of adventure and vulnerability. It perfectly characterizes the early stages of childhood when everything is yet to be discovered. It reminds us that we are all travelers and that slowing down to appreciate the little things and not take them for granted may be the biggest lesson of them all.
